Western New York Racing: A new progression in Motocross!

Team Digger Racing

How did you come up with the idea to form a team?
The team started when Eddie Johannes and Tyler Wolfe started riding and racing their 50’s. Both of them had their share of crashes (diggers) so the name kinda stuck.
Who currently rides for the team and which classes do they race?
We have eight riders in 2009.
Eddie Johannes 116 - 65cc 7-9, Jr. Mini
Tyler Wolfe 90 - Jr. Mini, Super Mini
Sebastian Knapp 522 - Jr. Mini, Super Mini
Griffin Randall 929 - 65cc 7-9, Jr. Mini
Zach Notebaert 102 - 65cc 10-11, Jr. Mini
Trenton Sherman 928 - 50cc Beg, Playbike
Cort Sherman 927 - 50cc Beg, Playbike
Skip Nield 902 - Senior C
What’s the most challenging part about operating as a team?
When we are all together for practice or a race day we run short on mechanics to prep bikes and gear.
What do you think is the most beneficial part of being a team?
We are all together to share the ups and downs of riding and racing. When one of the guys takes a first everyone is stoked. When one of them DNS a race everyone is there to help him out. It also never hurts to have friendly competition to help push each other.
What would you say was your best team moment?
All hanging out together at this years Camp and Ride at HogBack Hill.
Where does the team usually practice?
Our practice track in Victor or Hogback Hill.
If someone is interested in becoming a member, what should they do?
We will be taking a handful of race resumes for the 2010 season starting in October. If you are interested you can send your info to ejohannes@teamdiggerracing.com
Any sponsors/people you would like to thank or say Hi to?
We always like to give a shout out to our sponsors. Auction Direct USA, Windsor Technology, Joe Kuntz Masonry, Racer Space, Rider Down Foundation, Vortex, 661, ASV, Race Tools, Spy and of course the riders family’s and friends. With a special thanks to Jay Sherman and WNYRacing for putting together a great season.
Any advice you would like to give to someone interested in starting a team of their own?
Make it fun and safe. Just remember it’s not just all about going fast it’s about looking cool doing it.
Lastly, what goals do you have as a team for the rest of the season, and in the future?
To stay strong as a team with great finishes, have fun and of course stay safe and injury free. As for the future….who knows. You just might see TDR in the big leagues someday.

Millertime MX Racing

How did you come up with the idea to form a team?
The idea was originally kicked around mostly to be an excuse to get together and have some form of motocross unity with family and friends on Sundays. In our second year now, the mission of the team is to have a unit to rally around and support each other while helping riders achieve their individual goals.
Who currently rides for the team and which classes do they race?
Tim Miller, Team Manager (retired from riding)
Billy Miller, Assistant to the Team Manager
Jake Miller, 60-65cc and Junior Mini
Eric Miller, 250 and 450 Beginner
Robert Tyx, 250 and 450 Beginner
Eddie Duncan, 250 and 450 Beginner
What’s the most challenging part about operating as a team?
The most challenging part about operating as a team is getting everyone to improve their results while at the same time, staying healthy. We’ve lost three riders to injury since last season. One permanently retired rider, one rider for the remainder of this season, and one was out for a month.
What do you think is the most beneficial part of being a team?
The most beneficial part of being a team is having the resources to get through almost anything that can happen on race day.
What would you say was your best team moment?
As of the now, the best team moment was when I saw the assistant to the team manager, Billy Miller, helping out riders at Freedom MX this year when everyone was dumping in one of the turns during that mud race. He was there mainly to support Jake, but he was helping everyone, at least four or five different riders.
Where does the team usually practice?
Area 51.
If someone is interested in becoming a member, what should they do?
Just shoot us an e-mail at info@millertimemx.com We’re open to anyone who wants to participate in a team environment on Sundays. Everyone chips in to help each other out.
Any sponsors/people you would like to thank or say Hi to?
I’d like to thank our team manager Tim Miller for keeping us focused. I’d also like to thank Tom Kresconko, owner of Mechanical Minds for the work he does on our bikes and the support he gives Tim once they leave the shop. I’d also like to thank J.D. at Rocky Mountain ATV for supporting us and standing behind RMATV’s products. Lastly and most importantly, our wives, for supporting our crazy obsession for motocross and taking care of us when we’re broken.
Any advice you would like to give to someone interested in starting a team of their own?
Remember why you started the team and don’t lose focus of your goals.
Lastly, what goals do you have as a team for the rest of the season, and in the future?
This season’s team goals were individual finishes for each of our riders. Unfortunately, due to injuries we’re not going to be able to meet all of them. Some goals we’ve already met and some we’ve yet to achieve. Our future goals now will be more focused on staying healthy throughout the season.

Sounds like both teams really have it together, best of luck to both. Check out TDR and MTMX at their respective websites-Justin
